“Hortus,” the Latin word for ‘garden,' denotes our mission to preserve, restore, and champion the beautiful fruits of the Catholic Church, so that they may continue to grow and inspire the world.

The Hortus Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to initiatives that uphold our core values:

To sponsor Catholic cultural projects that preserve or create true
beauty, through architecture, history, archeology, art, and film.
II
To undertake projects with wide-reaching impact that will bear
much fruit in the world.

III
To champion the Catholic principles of Solidarity, Charity, and
Catholic Social Teaching.

IV
To promote the orthodox Magisterial tradition through
formation activities, tools, and materials that edify.

V
To collaborate with other organizations that share Hortus’
values and mission.

The Basilica di San Clemente is a treasure of the Church located in the heart of Rome. This 12th century basilica houses priceless frescos, sacred relics, and an expansive underground archaeological complex spanning two-thousand years of Christian history. The Hortus Foundation is proud to support the restoration and preservation of this extraordinary site.
